Thoraxx Clinical Communications, LLC (Oradell, NJ)

Chief Strategic Officer | 2009 – 2025

  • Cofounded virtual boutique medical communication agency that focused on specialty therapies, including hematology/oncology, rare diseases, diagnostic imaging, CNS, and ophthalmology. Grew revenue to $5 million.
  • Collaborated with client’s Product Director, Medical Director, or Chief of Commercialization to develop strategic and tactical plans for investigational, prelaunch, and in-market therapies, ensuring rapid product adoption and/or expansion. This includes developing a clear, concise scientific platform for a product that captures the interest of the target audience.
  • Led strategic sales efforts by identifying potential new and expanded business opportunities. This included leveraging insights from Advisory Boards, medical literature, and conversations about unmet clinical needs with healthcare providers to identify audience and communication tactics.
  • Expanded client base by continually developing expertise in specialty therapeutic sectors and approaching prospective clients working in a similar space.
  • Pivoted organizational thinking to establish revenue value as agency fees rather than total billings, ensuring no additional burden on cash flow.
  • Trained and mentored account executives and project coordinators to develop detailed budgets for projects of up to $1M.
  • Managed 8 staff across various functions, including account executives, project coordinators, content developers, and designers, ensuring that all initiatives met or exceeded client expectations.
  • Leveraged Advisory Boards, a special type of market research, to help clients better understand the reception and barriers to utilization of similar therapies internationally prior to domestic product launch. Spearheaded some of the first virtual Advisory Boards in the industry, enabling a cost-effective and convenient option to gather vital data.
  • Moderated or co-moderated more than 100 Advisory Boards and workshops. These included building communication and scientific platforms to be leveraged for developing promotional and educational initiatives and branding workshops for clients to assess agency work.
  • Navigated client mergers and continued master service agreements with newly merged entities.
  • Remained up-to-date on FDA guidelines, European Medicines Agency processes, and HIPAA guidelines to ensure external communications are within regulation.

AlphaMedica, Inc. (Tarrytown, NY)

Chief Strategic/Scientific Officer | 2000 – 2009

  • Co-founded an educational-based marketing company with a therapeutic focus on hematology/oncology, dermatology, infectious disease, respiratory medicine, cardiology, radiology & interventional radiology, CNS, hepatology, surgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, pain medicine, urology, podiatry, vascular medicine. Grew company from $500,000 annual revenue to over $12 million and increased staff from 3 to 100 employees.
  • Developed strategic initiatives to support brand positioning and promotional strategies for new product launches, expanded indications, and in-market brands. This included multi-audience campaigns, unique interactive educational tools, and identifying different target audiences than competitors to gather increased buy-in.
  • Provided tactical direction to teams of medical writers, creatives, and account executives for the development of compelling content for educational-based marketing programs, ensuring deliverables aligned with overall client strategy.
  • Evolved service offerings from medical education to medical communications, ultimately expanding into a special projects agency handling education-based marketing and advertising to better fill the changing needs of the industry.
  • Collaborated with CFO to oversee expenses, project budgets, and revenue from 5 account groups on a monthly basis, as well as projecting quarterly and yearly earnings.

Andy Galler Films (New York, NY)

Director/Producer/Writer | Prior to 2000

  • Developed and maintained relationships with major partners to support various film projects, including ATT, Citi Bank, Condé Nast, Conrail, Dupont, General Foods, Guerlain, Lancôme, Minolta, Monsanto, Ortega, Panasonic, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Ralph Lauren, Scotts, and Shasta Beverages.
  • Directed approximately 100 national TV commercials for consumer brands. This included collaborating with advertising agencies to align creative vision, casting, hiring specialized crew and tradespeople, securing shooting locations, and props.
  • Directed/produced/wrote or cowrote hundreds of sponsored films and videos, including developing the script, storyboards, and art direction. Managed all technical aspects of shoot and ensured client expectations were met.
  • Developed and executed an in-house video production studio for Minolta to create interactive video programs to train salesforce and technical staff. Oversaw the design and construction of the studio while acting as executive producer managing operations. Directed many TV commercials in the studio.
  • Directed independent feature film “Bums” and produced independent feature film “Farewell Miss Fortune”.
